TH, Feli, YP... I wish you guys were here.

And Dood...YOU'D BETTER GET YOUR ASS HERE REAL SOON!!!

Sunday, October 29, 2006

I have 25- hour day today. WooHoo!
Anw, it is one extra hour wasted.
I havent done anything productive since Friday.

It was freaking cold when I woke up in the morning.
It was chilling when I walked along the hallway
It was shivery everywhere.
So I went back to my warm bed and stayed there all morning.

Half of the day wasted...

P'Beam (she's an exchange student from last year who decided to finish her undergrad here), Bonny, Pam, Nin (an exchange from B.E.) and I went to a Korean rest. with Meng (He's a fren of P'Beam. They've known each other since last year) for lunch. The food was good (nothing compared to Thai food though. Hehe...). We ate a lot. I couldnt remember what we ate as they were all in Korean. After that Meng drove us back to the Rez.

In the afternoon, there was a Halloween party for floor 8th and 9th.

Pumpkin carving...

While everybody's having fun with the pumpkins, Fai's enjoying...

Yeah...she did like it.

We didnt stay 'till the end as we had to leave for Saunders Farm for the Haunted Maze thingy.
They said it's like a hauted house and it's only during Halloween period.
Surprised that I went with them right? They said it wouldnt be that scary and I wanted to see how it's like.
Meng came to pick us up at the Rez. The place was pretty far from the U. It's surrounded by fields. It didnt feel like we are still in Ottawa at all. It was so dark when we got there though it's only 5-ish. The place looked really spooky. There werent many pple around. We found out later that the farm closed at 5 on Sun and the Maze thingy started at 6 p.m. on weekdays. It seemed like we have to come back here again (I dun think we would). Btw, I was kinda glad abt it.
We didnt know what to do after that. Meng suggested grocery shopping and then we went to WalMart at somewhere west of Ottawa. We bought loads ('cos Meng driving us home).
Do you guys know what I buy?

These...

(Fai bought some, too. She has 11 boxes of cereal now)

And this...

It's called Sip-A-Bowl. I saw Grant ( a sweet guy on my floor) using it when he eats his Cheerios and I've been wanting it all along. Mine is blue and Fai's is green (cereal killers need their weapons). I think Grant's one is yellow.
This is my collection of cereal.

Now comes the prob. I have too much food.

Moreover, I have milk, veggies, eggs and 2 boxes of Eggo in the fridge.
I need to plan carefully on how I am going to finish all the food.

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head...
...Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'...

It's been raining all day today.
It was raining when I woke up, and I didnt feel like getting out of my cosy bed at all. I just wanted to stay under my blanket forever ( the other reason for this was it's freaking cold in my room).
It's still raining right now.

Anw, I've been wanting to eat Ben and Jerry's for a few days (Tues and Wed-feeling blue...Thur 'till now- just want to eat it). I still couldnt decide on what flavour I'd buy. The dilemma lies between 'Chunky Monkey' and 'Chocolate Fudge Brownie'. I could buy two but it wont be so healthy ( as you guys know, I'll finish them all at once).

Damn, I wish P'Pum was here so I dont have to pay for it myself (For SG kakis, P'Pum is my cousin who always buys me ice-cream when he visits BKK. Actually, I kinda force him to treat me. What a nice sis I am. Hehe...)

And on Thursday, I went to a Hockey game with my frens. It was Ottwa Senators against Toronto Maple Leafs (the Sens rival...it's like TU vs CU and ACJC vs RJC) game. I really had a good time watching the game. It was one cool experience.

Scotiabank Place: Home of the Ottawa Senators

Inside the stadium...

This fellah was sitting next to me during the game. He was such devoted fan of the Senators. He kept shouting at the Leafs fans. Anw, it was kinda funny. We called him P'Suck ( he painted 'LEAFS SUCK' on his cheeks). I shouted so much that my voice was gone during the third period ( I wouldnt shout as much if I wasnt sitting beside this guy). It was fun. I really enjoyed it.

The Battle of Ontario...

The Senators (in red) and the Leafs (in white)...

Can you guys see the puck here?

Face off..

Red Light! The Sens Scored...WooHoo!

The Sens won 7-2. This guy scored 5 goals for the team. Dany Heatley rox!

The goalie, Ray Emery was awesome. He saved so many shots during the game. He's like Peter Schmeichel of the hockey world.

I've learned that we could trade the ticket for a slice of pizza for every 6 goals scored by the Sens. That night we scored 7 so I could get a slice with my tic. I didnt know which to go for. Pizza from Pizza Pizza was sth I'd wanted to try. I wanted to keep the tic as a souvenir too. So before I could decide on it, I took a pic of the tic (in case I chose pizza).

In the end, I chose the tic. Fai and N.P. went to claim their pizza yesterday. It's pepperoni pizza. I've told you guys that I'm not eating pork here. And I'm not going to.

After the game, we went to Suite 34 for a Halloween party.

Tequilla shots...

N.P. got stuck with Yassin...

Now comes the food part.

Fai, she's in love with cereal. She called herself a cereal killer. I think I'm becoming one too.

This is not a lot compared to Fai's collection. She has 7 in total and she has been eating a few more in the past two months. It's not that I like cereal or crave for it. I just want to try sth new. Sth that I cant find in Thailand. Btw, Post 'Banana Walnut Crunch' is still my fave.

Today I finally bought a cup of Tim Hortons. It's not coffee though. It's a cup of hot chocolate. I liked it. It tasted pretty good. Anw, I'll try the coffee soon.

I cooked today. It's the same old thing...stir-fry veggies. But I dont care, I havent had it for almost a month.

Before...

After...

Today’s my day off. So I spent my day tidying up my room and did the laundry.
I did a pretty good job right?

My cosy bed…

Anw, I cant believe that I have only abt 2 months left before I go back home. Time passes by so fast. So I kinda list down things that I have to do before I leave Ottawa.

This is my list.
1. walk to Alexandra Bridge to Quebec side, stop at Imax, then walk back to Ottawa via Du Portage Bridge (been wanting to do this since I got here…dunno why I keep postponing it. Better do this before winter comes)

2. go to the nicest park in Ottawa
3. eat the best poutine in town
4. go to St. Laurent (I’m the only one out of 5 outgoing girls who has nvr been there)
5. complete walk along the Parliament Hill
6. try Tim Hortons coffee (I’ll see what’s so nice abt it though I dun drink coffee)
7. explore Ottawa (have to go somewhere else besides downtown area)
8. snowball fights
9. skating on Rideau Canal
10. cant think of anything…there’s gotta be more…

Moreover, Bonny and I are planning to go to NYC to visit our friend, Brian. We are free when he’s not. He has to work. We have our projects, quizzes and exams. We need to find out when we are going there, urgently. We dunno when we are going to have a chance to meet him again. (TH,YP, Feli…I know what you guys are thinking. I do plan to visit you guys in SG…it’s just our schedules clash…Anw, I’ll see whether I can go there in Feb. Benjy's going to be back during that time too.)
Talking abt Brian makes me think abt Tyler, Brian’s nephew. He’s a very adorable kid. I haven’t met him but I visited his website for a few times. He’s getting cuter and cuter.

Cute eh?
I NEED BEN AND JERRY'S!!!
I NEED TO WALK!!!
I NEED TO LET IT OUT!!!

Today is my worst day in Ottawa. Btw, I'm not going to write lots abt it. What is done is done.
You guys just know that my last two exams were disasters. My day sucked and someone knocked the stupid door on my head. It's damn painful.
My head is like this now...

Let's change the topic.

TH said that I should translate the song for some of you guys. But it's freaking hard to do that. So I'll just tell you roughly what it's abt.
Umm...it's about this guy who is trying to find a word to describe the feeling he has towards his girl. However, he feels that there's no words that can describe it. And he believes that the actions would worth more than words: the way he looks at her, the way he treats her...all those stuff...
Even a Piscean like me thinks it's cheesy here but I swear to my Babe that it sounds better in Thai. I think Mea agree with me, right?

Anw, do you guys miss me? I know you do 'cos I miss you guys too!

Yeah...I supposed to be studying for the past week that I disappeared.
BUT...I did more than that...

Let's see what I'd been doing. It's quite long but you guys have to stick with me k? You dun wanna miss silly photos...Hehe...

Wed Oct 18,

Many of my floormates had already finished their mid-terms. Patricia was one of them and she put this on my door.

Thanks dear...Anw, I still love her. What a nice girl she is.

Thursday Oct 19,

I tried to study but the party animals on my floor didnt allow me too. They made so much noise (as always). I couldnt concentrate. I wanted to go to the library to study but I was so comfy in my fisherman pants that I didnt want to change to jeans just to go to the library and it was so cold outside. Finally, they left for a pub ard 1 a.m. This was what I did after they left.

This Matt...dun wanna talk abt him...

And these two girls...they woke me up at 4 in the morning twice! Can they just keep quiet and go to sleep like normal pple do?

I went back to study after that...didnt do as much as I wanted to though.

Friday Oct 20 and Saturday Oct 21,

Party again!?
Please...I had to study...
I didnt sleep at all that night. But dun get me wrong, I'm not that studious. I finished reading what I had to at ard 3 a.m. I wasnt sleepy so I googled the internet until 8 in the morning.
I started with 'chip and dale' and I found this amazing website- http://www.retrojunk.com/
Then I went...

"Ch-ch-ch-Chip 'n Dale - Rescue Rangers
Ch-ch-ch-Chip 'n Dale - When there's danger."

and then...

"Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Heart

GO-O-O PLANET

By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet...

...We're the planeteers. You can be one too.

'Cause saving our planet is the thing to do.

Looting and polluting is not the way.

Hear what Captain Planet has to say:THE POWER IS YOURS"

and then...

"They're Pinky and the Brain!

Yes, Pinky and the Brain!"

Actually there were more...but I just skip those.

I went to a movie website for some OSTs I wanted to listen. Then I visited YouTube to see those MVs (e.g. grow old with you by Adam Sandler). The by-products from the movie website are quotes from movies.
These are some of my fave ones.

Love Actually:
Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.

Dodgeball:
Well, I guess if a person never quit when the going got tough, they wouldn't anything to regret for the rest of their life. Well good luck to you Peter. I'm sure this decision won't haunt you forever.

Angels in the Outfield:
My name is Maggie Nelson. I take care of foster kids. One of these boys is the child who can see angels. He could stand up right now and tell you what's going on and I'd know you'd just laugh at him. But, when a professional football player drops to one knee to thank God for making a touchdown, nobody laughs at that. Or when a pitcher crosses himself before going to the mound, no one laughs at that either. It's like your saying it's okay to believe in God, but it's not okay to believe in angels. Now, I thought that they were on the same team.

We all need someone to believe in. Every child I have ever looked after has someone: an angel. You've got to have faith. You've got to believe. You have to look inside yourself. The footprints of an angel are love, and where there is love, miraculous things can happen.

Then I stuck at YouTube for the rest of the morning!
It started from Matchbox 20 (push, unwell, disease, 3 a.m.) and then Hootie and the blowfish (only wanna be with you), The Wallflowers (one headlight, heroes, sleepwalker), Alanis Morissette (ironic), Frank Sinatra ( I wont dance, I’ve got you under my skin), and more.

Damn! Most of the things I mentioned here are making me miss the 90’s.
I love the 90’s.

Then Sat morning came…

Couldn’t stay up anymore, so I went to bed at 9 a.m.
At 10 a.m., Bonny called…
Bonny: Jay, are you coming with us this evening?
Jay: (extremely sleepy voice) No, I have to study…3 exams on Mon and Tue.
Bonny: Ok.

At noon, Bonny called again…
Bonny: Are you sure, you’re not coming with us?
Jay: Yup. I dun wanna go out…really need to study.
Bonny: It’s only from 4 to7. It wont be long.
Jay: I’d love to but I just cant…
Bonny: Ok.

BUT
At ard 4.30 p.m., Fai called…
Fai: Do you wanna go out?
Jay: No. Why?
Fai: Look outside! The weather is so nice. I dun wanna stay in my room. I cant stand it anymore. Let’s take a walk.
Jay: Where?
Fai: Loblaws…
Jay: Umm…not interested ว่ะ (wha = lah)

After I hang up the phone, I looked outside my window again. The weather was really really nice. It was sunny and all. So I told myself ‘what the heck am I doing here in the Rez? I should enjoy the day by taking a stroll along the canal’. I knew I should be studying but the slacker Jay always got the best of me.
I walked along Rideau Canal to the Parliament Hill, went across to Major’s Hill Park, to ByWard mkt and then I walked back to the Rez along the same route. I spent quite sometime at the park. You guys’ve gotta be here to know how pretty the scenery was. It was beautiful. I was awed. I bet Feli’s going to love it here. It was a shame that I didn’t bring my camera along with me. Anw, I promise that I’ll take some photos for you guys to see. I’ll definitely walk there again (and again and again). I picked up some maple leaves from the park and I took a photo of them when I got back. At least I have sth to show you guys…haha…

It’s also Bonny’s B’day.
She got cakes from us and from her local friends.

From MP and WanTing...

And then from us...

love her expression!...

enjoy eating...

taking turns...

Gals gone nutters after eating too much sugar!

It was not a productive day. However, it was fun.

Sunday Oct 22,

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
It's snowing in Ottawa. Even though it's wet snow, it's still snow. I went outside to take photos. I didnt want to put on my shoes so I wore my flipflops out. My toes went numb. I'm not going to do this again.

Jean-Francois was amused when he saw me taking photos. He gave me a smile that saying sth like 'you are just like a kid'.

N.P. was so hyper during the night. She came to my room and sang and dance 'hips dont lie'! She did it twice that night.

I was so bored with reading and studying that I started to take photos of me and my room.
The story behind these photos? I took photos of my room and the view outside so often but I didnt have any photos of myself with my room and with the view. So...

Can you guys see me here? I kinda blend in right? Haha... : )

Babe and I...

Exams can make one go crazy...

Monday Oct 23,

ADM 3352 at 1430...It was not hard. It was an open-book exam. Therefore...
I listen to Hootie and the Blowfish's 'only wanna be with you' for almost thirty times!

" I'm such a baby yeah. The dolphins make me cry.
...
Yeah I'm tangled up in blue. Only wanna be with you..."

Nevertheless, it's still not powerful enough to get N.P.'s Hips Dun Lie out of my head! She kept singing the song into my head.

I think that's all for my 'intensive' study week.

Oh! I almost forgot abt food.

Sandwiches that kept me alive.

My 3 musketeers...I like the 2nd one the most.

My toasts helpers..

Why do random things keep popping into my head lately?

This morning...
A song popped into my head while I was taking a shower. And it kept playing in my head throughout the day.
It's a Thai song, so I hope some of you guys dun mind me writing this in Thai.
It's a very old song called '

And yesterday morning while I was having my toasts...
I realized why I keep on snacking on friuts, veggies, and toasts for the past 10 days or so.
It's because I hadnt had any proper meal since I started studying.
I wanted rice. I wanted a proper meal.
BUT...
It would be too time-consuming to cook (preparing, cooking, doing the dishes).
SO...
I decided to go to Rideau Center for Jimmy The Greek.
AND...
It was a really good decision!

I was so full...felt so good...
I didnt snack at all 'till dinner (if you dun count 2 apples, a plum and a nectarine every hour after lunch).

Anw, I went to ByWard mkt to add fruits and veggies to my collection...

FYI: I finished all oranges in one day. There are only 8 apples left and the veggies are like...more than half gone.

Back to dinner...
I know a have to eat a proper meal but due to time constraint...
I made a big bowl of salad (actually it's more like a big pot) and drank 1 1/4 cup of milk (2/4 just milk and the rest with Cheerios).
I thought it was a big meal for me...but no!
I'm now hungry again...with that...I think I'll go find sth in the fridge to snack.
Haha...= )

My staple food for the next couple of days...

Sunday, October 15, 2006

Let's see how long they are going to last...

Saturday, October 14, 2006

I shall believe TH and be a little bit more relaxed.
Anw,I'm on exchange.
What an excuse! LoL

It's freaking cold today.
The winds were and still are extremely chilly.
I wore 3 layers of protection (a T-shirt, a sweater and a jacket)...It didnt really help.
And this song kept playing in my head...I changed the lyrics a bit though...hehe

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Ottawa and Rome
...
Mmmmmmmm

Another winter day has come
And not gone away
In even Ottawa and Rome
...
Mmmmmmmm

Let me go home
'Cause I’m just too far from where the warmth and good food are
I wanna come home
...

but you know...I'll survive (as long as I know how to cope with the weather...I know I will stay alive)...hehe...

Damn, I need gloves urgently!

Apart from that...I'm succumbing to all the temptations!

1. visiting doc-depot always becomes a pathway in googling the Internet and doing sth else (eg. updating my blog and looking around others')
2. studying always becomes an excuse to eat and snack more (I still exercise and try to eat fruits. But those fruits are nvr enough for me. Bought 8 oranges yesterday...now I left with none).
3. there are more...

I think I'm not a person with a strong will.
However, I'm so determined not to eat pork when I'm here in Canada.
Do you guys know why?
It's because of him.

Dont you guys think he's cute?
If no, see him again...

He's such an adorable babe.
Anw, I havent eaten much pork here. I think I'll be ok...but when I go back home...umm... = )

Thursday, October 12, 2006

After my second napping of the day, I had a strong urge...desire...whatever you guys called it... for ข้าวไข่เจียว (rice with omelette). So I went to the kitchen and made it.

+ =

It tasted so good for such a simple dish.
Simply delicious...

Now, let's be serious.
My first exam is coming in less than a week. I have this pile of materials to study for...

I even did the agenda for my revision...

The problem was I kept dozing off! Eventually, it became a nap. Three naps today. Damn...I'm doomed!

I need to get rid of my bed...see how close it is to the desk...

Btw, why the hell on earth am I here updating my blog!?

The Awesomely Ouchful Weekend!!!

These were the awesome parts...

Sat Oct 7: Turkey Lurkey!

We were invited by Kavi and her boyfriend Rostam and Karine to our first Thanksgiving dinner. There were loads of food and they were all so delicious, esp the pumpkin pie. Thanks them all for the wonderful night!

The table...there were names on the plates.

Wow...what a feast!

It was the best dinner we've ever had in Canada!

Sun Oct 8: Gatineau Park

Breakfast at Erik's...Yummy!

It was the guys who made them!

Alex made the pancakes.

Erik did the strawberry sauce.

Best Canadian breakfast ever! Thanks guys.

Then it was time for Gatineau Park.

A walk to the cavern...we played ultimate while we were walking there.

He does look like Jim Carrey here eh?

Umm...I've nth to say...

Beaverhouse...

and our 4 beavers!

It turned out that we were not that prepared to get inside the cavern...so we ended up taking photos instead.

This was the cavern we supposed to get inside.

My precious...

The scenery...very beautiful...

I love this photo. Great job Fai!

Candid Camera!

At a Mexican Rest. in ByWard mkt...

Beavertails...finally!!!

A very friendly and funny guy at Beavertails...

Yumm Yumm...

And that was the end of the day.

Now comes the ouchful part...

Tonight and tomorrow (Oct 9)

Damn! I still have so much work to complete. The problematic ones are ADM3343 and ADM3351.
I couldnt do qn no. 16 for 3343. It's...I dunno what...
And there's so much to digest and absorb for 3351...that darn duration and convexity. I just couldnt get it!
That...ouch!!!

Friday, October 06, 2006

Another healthy grocery shopping at Loblaws...I spent ard 10 bucks on them. Damn! I wish I were in Thailand. I could get almost 10 kgs of fruits with the same amount of money.

I also bought this. It's one nice magazine. I believe it's like 'Health and Cuisine'. There're loads of recipes inside it and they all look yummy!

I'm not becoming a Canadian though. Still I like this country and I love Ottawa. Dont take me wrong...I do miss Thailand. It's just I also like it here. Thailand and Canada should not be this far apart. For that, I think I have to dream on...haha...

In the afternoon, Fai and I went to pick up our passports from U.S. Embassy. We got the visas and they last for 10 years! If Brian got married with Lea within these 10 years, I can attend their ceremony (given that I have money to fly to U.S. haha).

This is my pick-up card.

And yesterday, my watch broke. I didnt know what happen to it. It became like this...

This sux! This watch is sth I cant live without. I have to put it in my pocket so that I can check on time whenever I want. Sometimes, out of my habit, I rolled up my sleeve just to fine that my watch was no longer on my wrist! It would cost me loads to fix it here so I think I have to get used to having it in my pocket from now on.

I will end today blog with a photo of another dish I cooked today. It's a macaroni soup. It did taste good (to my taste buds). There were only white and red onions, white radish, crab sticks, soya sauce and 2 cubes of Knor...I kept the leftover for tmr so that I wont have to cook again.

Monday, October 02, 2006

How come my blog is flooded with photos of food!?

I've been spending too much time in the kitchen and at grocery stores. I have to stop buying food and eating them unnecessarily. I dun wanna get fatter here. I wanna be healthy and strong when I go back home. Anw, it's so hard to stop snacking, especially when I have to study and do homework (loads of work to catch up with).

Btw, I did cook today. It's sth similiar to what I did last time 'cos I ran out of 'creative' ideas. It's a little bit more colourful this time with the purple, yellow and normal cauliflowers I bought from the ByWard mkt yesterday. Also, I didnt put baby carrots in as I need to keep them for my 'healthy' snacking during the nights.

P.S. There was no creation no.7 as I was too lazy to cook. I only microwaved the leftover and ate it with rice a few days ago.
P.S. 2 TH, help me! I dun think I can stop eating lor...(remember how much I ate when I was in SG?)...sian and sign...

Sunday, October 01, 2006

The weather was extremely nice. It was sunny and not too cold. Fai and I planned to play the new frisbee at the lawn in front of Tabaret Hall. However, the rest werent free. Also, it wouldnt be that fun if there were only two players. So, we ended up going to ByWard mkt and Loblaws...

The healthiest grocery shopping ever!

Last night I was so bored...so I took photos of the night from my room.
